What 樓上骨 and 邪骨 mean: upstairs massage in Hong Kong

In Cantonese, "骨" is slang for massage and a "骨場" is a massage parlour. A small parlour on an upper floor with no street-level shopfront is a 樓上骨, literally "upstairs massage": usually one flat divided into several rooms, each with its own girl. The other word you will see is 邪骨, "naughty massage", as opposed to 正骨, a straight massage. It means sexual services are offered on top of the massage, anywhere from a hand finish or prostate massage to full sex.

Every upstairs room on a 141 site is of the naughty kind; they differ only in how far they go. The most common combination is massage plus prostate massage, then uniforms and nuru, and only then full service. Compared with a one-woman apartment, which is one girl per flat and built around sex, an upstairs room is built around the massage, and sessions run longer: 60 to 90 minutes is normal.

About one upstairs room in four offers full service. The rest end with a hand finish or prostate massage. So the label tells you neither yes nor no; the only reliable guide is the package text on the profile.

Reading it takes three steps. First, look for "full service" in the service list. If it is missing, do not expect to add it once you are in the room. Second, look at the rate table: an upstairs room usually has several packages, the cheapest is nearly always massage with a hand finish, and the one that includes sex is on its own line at a higher price. Third, read the visit reports. Half of the upstairs rooms have them, and reports say most plainly what actually happened. Districts differ too: upstairs rooms in Mong Kok and Yuen Long often do offer sex, while those in Tuen Mun and Kwun Tong mostly do not.

Where the upstairs massage rooms are: Sham Shui Po, Kwun Tong, North Point

The biggest concentration is in Sham Shui Po: 長安大廈 on Yu Chau Street and 長樂大廈 on Cheung Sha Wan Road form the largest upstairs-massage cluster in Hong Kong, two minutes from the MTR and the cheapest. Next is Kwun Tong around Hong Ning Road, where half are by phone appointment. On the Island the most are on Marble Road in North Point, where 華寶商業大廈 alone has many rooms, two minutes from North Point station. Then come Wan Chai, Mong Kok and Central.

Across the city, half of the upstairs rooms list an address and half need a call first. Starting packages are mostly HK$400 to 600 and a little under half are open all night. Only four in ten girls list English, fewer than in walk-ups or hotels, so a short written message works better than a phone call.
